The people came from far and near,
The sabbath message for to hear,
The peril nigh they donnae ken,
The soldier riding for the glen.
He’s coming down the brae.
In prayer the people join as one,
Not my will, Lord, but Yours be done.
With sword of steel and boot of leather,
The soldier rides o’er hills and heather,
He’s coming down the brae.
Then they hear the sentry’s cry,
Hands two sword hilts swiftly fly,
The soldier proud on fearless steed,
Nae cry for mercy will he heed,
He’s coming down the brae.
